Technical Sales Manager, Ocean Technology (Sales/Key Support Manager)


The Technical Sales Manager, is primarily responsible for securing sustainable growth of acoustic system sales, including Ocean Science systems, predominantly in Canada, but also across the Americas region in support of the Ocean Science sales team.  The core focus is on increasing Kongsberg Discovery’s market share.  Approximately 30% of the role is allocated to supporting major projects. The Sales Manager will be expected to establish good rapport and become a valuable technical resource to our customers in different market sectors.

Ocean Science products are part of the global Ocean Technologies division. Sales and Marketing teams are organized in parallel with a regional matrix. Thus, the Technical Sales Manager will span the regional sales team and global product division.


Generate leads and opportunities; close sales
Conduct project handovers to delivery team
Contribute to the sales and marketing strategy in the region
Provide market intelligence to both the sales team and product managers
Work effectively as a member of a team
Collaborate proactively with Customer Service team
Prepare and present technical sessions at industry events
Support product sales through dealers and OEM customers
Track and report YTD and YEF for Ocean Science order income when applicable, using CRM and other sales tools
Identify, qualify, and recommend growth opportunities for Ocean technology products across the region
From time-to-time, the Technical Sales Manager may also be called upon to provide project support for major Canadian delivery projects for Kongsberg Discovery.


A minimum of 3 years of technical sales experience
In addition, one or more years of technical experience in Engineering, Survey, Fisheries Research, Maritime, or Marine technology
Technical Certification or Degree Program as a surveyor or marine technologist, or equivalent work experience garnered in ocean technology or a related field.


Good interpersonal skills
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Able to handle simultaneous activities and customer demands
Able to work as part of a team but also on your own
Familiarity with MS Office product suite
Familiarity with CRM systems
Ability to travel domestically and internationally (up to 50%)
Bilingual (French/English) optional.

Work Location: Ideally local the Kongsberg Discovery office at COVE, Dartmouth, NS or at the Kongsberg Discovery Canada facility in Port Coquitlam, BC. Remote working may be considered for the right candidate.
