Technical Sales Manager and ADCP Product Advisor


The Technical Sales Manager and ADCP Product Advisor is primarily responsible for securing sustainable growth of Ocean Science product sales across the Americas with the core focus being on increasing Kongsberg Discovery’s share of the ADCP market across all segments. Approximately 30% of the role is allocated to the product advisor component, providing commercial feedback, technical and application feedback to the product management team.

Ocean Science products are part of the global Ocean Technologies division. Sales and Marketing teams are organized in parallel with a regional matrix. Thus, the Technical Sales Manager and ADCP Product Advisor will span the regional sales team and global product division.


Technical Sales:

Deliver KD order income for Ocean Science products (primarily ADCPs) across the Americas
Promote and preserve customer success, satisfaction, and loyalty with Kongsberg Discovery’s integrated acoustic product portfolio for Ocean Science
Become the regional expert, and face of Kongsberg Discovery’s ADCP product portfolio in the region, presenting at technical events, conferences, and trade shows
Development and implementation of annual ADCP order income budget for the region in conjunction with the Mapping and Science sales team
Track and report YTD and YEF for ADCP order income when applicable, using CRM and other sales tools
Build sales pipeline (rolling 18 months) for ADCP products across the region
Identify, qualify, and recommend growth opportunities for Ocean Science product sales across the region
Identify and qualify new business models for increasing Kongsberg Discovery’s share of the Ocean Science market (primarily but not limited to ADCPs)

Product Advisor:

Provide commercial, technical and application feedback to the Ocean Science product management team
Provide guidance on capability gaps and application opportunities to the Ocean Science product management team
Assist the Customer Service team with input to ensure customer success with technical input and become a valuable technical resource to our customers in a variety of different market sectors


Develop and implement a regional ADCP sales strategy in collaboration with the Ocean Technologies global strategy and the regional Ocean Science sales strategy
Collaborate with the regional sales team for a coordinated and cohesive sales strategy in the Americas
Identify Must-Win-Battles and key projects for ADCP sales and the wider Ocean Science portfolio in the region in partnership with product leadership from Horten

It is expected that the incumbent is available to travel regionally, and internationally, up to approximately 120 days per year.

The successful candidate should be proactive, with a growth mindset, and able to work remotely but also as part of a global team of experts.


A minimum of one year of technical sales experience
In addition, one or more years of technical experience in Engineering, Survey, Maritime, or Marine technology
Technical Certification or Degree Program as a surveyor or marine technologist, or equivalent work experience garnered in marine survey or a related field


Good interpersonal skills
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Able to handle simultaneous activities and customer demands
Able to work as part of a team but also on your own
Familiarity with MS Office product suite
Familiarity with CRM systems
Ability to travel domestically and internationally (up to 50%)

Work Location:

Ideally local to one of Kongsberg Discovery’s offices in the region, either at Lynnwood (WA), Dartmouth, (NS, Canada) or at our satellite office at the University of New Hampshire. Other locations and remote working may be considered for the right candidate.
