Transducer Engineer
Department: R&D Acoustic Engineering

The Staff Transducer Engineer is responsible for generating appropriate electro-acoustic transducer architecture to support system level performance requirements.  They are a subject matter expert in the field of electro-acoustic transducer engineering who also understands system architecture and contributes innovative ideas.  The role is highly technical, and requires someone who can develop and deliver results to complex and demanding acoustic problems using modern techniques and methods.

The successful candidate will work closely with members of several cross-functional teams, including system engineers, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, test engineers, supply chain staff, and NPI engineers.  The role requires someone who is self-motivated and possesses excellent communication and problem solving skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in small teams, in addition to requiring excellent acoustic engineering skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Specify, analyze, implement and test transducer components
  • Generate appropriate transducer architecture to support system level performance requirements
  • Build, measure, and evaluate prototypes to demonstrate acoustic designs
  • Drive internal QSC development effort as well as ODM where required
  • Participate and work effectively in cross-functional product development teams to assist in product definition and feasibility for the PLM process
  • Participate in new technologies research and development
  • Produce and maintain internal technical procedures
  • Identify opportunities for improving acoustic designs and infrastructures
  • Stay up to date with transducer technologies, designs, testing and modelling techniques
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities

Qualifications:

Required skills:

  • Proficiency using the Klippel Analyzer
  • Experience performing multiphysics analysis with FEA simulation such as COMSOL
  • Experience with reliability and testing standards
  • Experience with anechoic chamber measurement
  • Experience with transducer manufacturing processes
  • Familiarity with amplifier operation and designing integrated active speaker systems
  • Solid english written, verbal and technical language proficiency
  • Self-motivated with the ability to perform design & development tasks with minimal oversight
  • Willingness and ability to travel overseas up to 10% of the time, to China as well as other locations

Education and experience:

  • B.S. degree in Acoustics, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering. M.S. preferred.
  • 10+ years or equivalent experience in electro-acoustic transducer design, development and manufacturing
  • Passion for the music/audio industry
