Job Description:

Wave Engineering is looking for a talented individual to help us continue to grow. We are working on a wide range of projects related to architectural acoustics, environmental noise and vibration. We want someone who is prepared to work collaboratively and offer practical solutions to a variety of problems. In addition to technical capability, we place a premium on creativity, flexibility, resourcefulness and the ability to solve unique problems. Effective communication is key, both with graphics and clear and concise English.  Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities and projects are a must.


Bachelors or Masters degree in engineering or science – Acoustics, Architecture, Mechanical, Electrical or other discipline with coursework related to acoustics and vibration. Direct experience in consulting is preferred.


Acoustical Consultant: (5 – 10 years experience minimum)

Responsibilities include:

  • Acoustics/noise/vibration field measurements. These can require work outside of normal working hours and can require overnight travel, sometimes to other parts of the country. Field work can result in long days and can require climbing ladders, walking long distances over rough terrain, navigating obstacles and carrying equipment that can weigh up to 50 pounds.
  • Experience with ANSI, ASTM and ISO acoustic standards.
  • Review of architectural/mechanical/structural/civil drawings for use in acoustic work.
  • HVAC and mechanical noise calculations.
  • Develop architectural acoustics reports, drawings, details and specifications.
  • Analyze acoustic solutions using computer modeling software, including CadnaA and INSUL.
  • Observe on-site construction to review the implementation of acoustical solutions.
  • Marketing functions, including generating content for social media, blog posts, newsletters, etc.

Post Doctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, University of Michigan

Post doctoral research fellow positions are open at the lab of Dr. Cheri Deng, Department of Biomedical Engineering, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI. Candidates with experience and background in ultrasound imaging and microbubbles are welcome to apply. The positions are with competitive salary plus the University’s standard benefits. 

The positions are for one year with option of extending to multiple years. The duties and expectations of these positions include carrying out research focused on biomedical ultrasound ultrasound imaging, microbubbles, and mechanobiology. Participation in preparation of technical reports and papers related to your research, and collaboration with other members of the research group are also expected. You may also participate in instructional activities, in mentoring and supervising undergraduate and graduate students engaged in research activities.

Environmental Noise Specialist

RWDI AIR Inc., part of the RWDI Group of Companies, specializes in resolving air quality, sound and vibration, climate change, hydrogeological as well as waste management issues for a wide array of architectural, engineering, industrial, commercial and government clients.  With locations and 100+ people strategically positioned throughout Canada, we have worked closely with many different sectors for approximately 40 years to meet measurement, modelling, design, mitigation and regulatory needs.

We are seeking an energetic and motivated individual to join our Acoustics, Noise and Vibration team in Guelph or Toronto as an Senior / Specialist in the Noise, Acoustics, and Vibration group.  The successful candidate will have at least ten years of Environmental Noise experience, with recent experience with regulatory (MECP, MTO) applications in Ontario. 

The role includes but is not limited to:

  • Providing mentorship and technical guidance to more junior staff
  • Helping to resolve challenging environmental noise and vibration problems for a wide variety of clients including industrial, institutional, and land developers
  • Maintaining technical excellence through quality assurance and mentorship
  • Supporting field measurement programs ranging from same day site visits to support of multi-year monitoring programs in a variety of challenging settings
  • Communicating complex technical concepts in straight-forward language that supports client understanding

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable engineering or science disciplines
  • Minimum ten years of experience in environmental noise assessment
  • Demonstrated history of understanding and applying Ontario MECP and MTO noise guidelines
  • In-depth knowledge of Cadna/A, ORNAMENT, and Microsoft Excel
  • A valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Registration with Professional Engineers Ontario is an asset
