Senior Acoustical and Vibration Engineer:

  • Must have a degree in acoustical or a related field, a graduate level degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in noise and vibration design consulting.
  • Must be familiar with signal processing and vibration and noise data collection.
  • Must have high level of computer skills such as excel and acoustic-related software, finiteelement modeling, etc.
  • Must be organized, a multi-tasker, driven, and a team player.
  • Must possess strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Some traveling is required

    Junior Acoustical and Vibration Engineer:
  • Must have an undergraduate degree in acoustical or a related field.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs field testing including SPL, reverberation time, STC, IIC, vibration.
  • Consults with clients providing guidance and expertise in acoustical and vibration design.
  • Manages acoustic and vibration projects.
  • Coordinates with team members inside and outside the company to produce design details.
  • Performs acoustic studies using off-the-shelf software as well as Metropolitan Acoustics’ licensed and proprietary software.
  • Composes high-quality reports with recommendations.
  • Works with the acoustics and vibration team to refine our tools and develop new ones.
  • Participates in professional development opportunities such as authoring technical papers, attending conferences, and participating in committees.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in acoustics consulting or related field.
  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Acoustics, Physics, or relevant engineering field.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and highly motivated with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with MS Word, MS Excel, Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Acrobat or Bluebeam.
  • Experience with EASE, SketchUp, INSUL, and HVAC noise modeling software.

Duties and Responsibilities (include but not limited to the following):

  • Read and review architectural, mechanical, structural plans, and noise codes and consult on space design, sound isolation, environmental/transportation noise, and building systems noise control.
  • Provide constructible, affordable, and aesthetically pleasing solutions.
  • Measure and analyze the impact of noise and vibration on interior and exterior environments and verify acoustical compliance with noise ordinances, building codes, standards, and ANSI guidelines.
  • Attend meetings, internal as well as with clients and prospects as needed.
  • Write technical reports and explain technical concepts to clients, lead seminars and presentations to prospects and clients, and publish technical papers on acoustical topics.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Pre-Sale Activities
    • Developing and delivering high quality technical presentations to customers on advanced sound and vibration solutions and activities.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Postdoctoral Research Associate

Department of Neuroscience, Brown University

Location: Providence Rhode Island

The Simmons lab in the Department of Neuroscience at Brown University is recruiting a postdoctoral research associate to lead efforts in computational modeling and model evaluation for animal biosonar systems.  The position is funded by a collaborative MURI grant from the Office of Naval Research and requires close collaboration with the other MURI team institutions. The postdoctoral research associate will develop and execute new computational modules for incorporation into the existing SCAT model of bat biosonar.  The successful candidate will also participate in the design and execution of behavioral and acoustic experiments to assess the model for clutter rejection within a sonar scene in relation to animal performance.

 

Qualifications:

PhD in computational neuroscience, computational cognitive science, acoustics/signal processing, computer science, applied mathematics, or related field.

Strong programming skills, with expertise in MATLAB

Familiarity with acoustics and signal processing.

Experience with quantitative analytic techniques and statistical software packages (R, SPSS).

Fluency in spoken and written English.

Strong record of publication.

Salary: Commensurate with experience
