Responsibilities:

  • Perform design, documentation & construction administration tasks on multiple projects as designer and Project Manager as related to Room Acoustics, Sound Isolation, and Noise Control.
  • Perform Business Development tasks as coordinated with the Business Development Director, including proposal writing and budgeting, to secure new projects.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Candidates should have 3-5 years of experience in the acoustic design of buildings with a similar acoustics consulting firm.
  • Excellent communication, writing, presentation, interpersonal and time management skills
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Willingness and ability to travel nationally and internationally.
  • LEED Certification, experience with Revit, and in music, theater, and/or architecture are also desirable.

Desired Qualifications and Interests

  • A BS or BA in acoustics, mechanical engineering, structural engineering, or related field. Advanced degrees are highly desirable.
  • Interest in working as a consultant as a key member of a team of co-workers. Tasks required by current ATS Consulting projects include detailed noise and vibration testing of prototype and in-service rail transit vehicles, identifying noise sources at a large freight rail classification yard, design of noise and vibration mitigation measures for new rail transit systems, and noise analysis for updates to a major freeway interchange.
  • Interest in the fields of transportation, acoustics, vibration, rail transit and railroads, field work, and computer analysis and modeling.
  • Excellent skills in communications and qualitative evaluations. The position requires both verbal and written communication with non-technical and technical clients.
  • Ability to represent ATS Consulting at meetings with clients and at professional society meetings.
  • Computer savvy with substantial experience using MATLAB, Excel, and Word. Experience with other computer tools (e.g. MySql data bases, ArcGIS, LabVIEW, Optram, and finite element method software) is desired but not required.
  • Experience with data science and programming is a plus.
  • Availability to travel to meet with clients and perform field tests (expected travel time ~10%).
  • Brings enthusiasm and excitement at becoming part of a small innovative company.
  • Legally authorized to work in the US.

Postdoctoral Research Associate

The Department of Physics at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette is recruiting a postdoctoral research associate to join the LADC-GEMM consortium (www.ladcgemm.org) and to participate  in acoustic data processing for investigating long-term impact of oil spill and other environmental disturbances on marine mammal in the Gulf of Mexico. The position is funded by the GOMRI grant. The postdoctoral research associate is expected to run existing and develop new computational tools to detect, localize, and classify marine mammal calls. 

Qualifications:

PhD in physics or closely related field.

Strong programming skills, with expertise in MATLAB

Familiarity with acoustics and signal processing.

Experience with machine learning  and statistical software packages.

Fluency in spoken and written English.

Strong writing skills and record of publication.

The Technical Manager, Install Loudspeakers is one of the top members of the QSC loudspeaker products team.  They serve as architect, designer, implementer, and tester for a wide variety of loudspeaker system products across the globe.  This is a hands-on position that requires a broad range of skills and significant experience designing and building modern loudspeaker systems.

As a technical leader, the Technical Manager, Install Loudspeakers performs a wide variety of tasks including development of loudspeaker system architectures, advanced modeling and simulation, transducer specification and selection, platform investigation and prototyping, acoustic testing, and system voicing, debugging and tuning.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads all architecture, design and implementation efforts for one or more install loudspeaker development projects.
  • Partners with senior-most technical leaders in the Amplifier, Mechanical, Acoustic and DSP departments to create innovative new products for multiple markets
  • Articulates all technical aspects of product lifecycle from concept to end-of-life with internal and external staff, suppliers, and overseas CMs.
  • Integrates innovative technical solutions to best satisfy the features-set, cost, manufacturability, quality, and time to market constraints and requirements.
  • Utilizes highly effective interpersonal skills to build and grow relationships with both internal team members and third party providers.
  • Interfaces with all levels of management to communicate technical proposals, risks, tradeoffs, solutions, and business issues.
  • Travels to China and other ODM & CM countries supporting prototype and pilot builds as required.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience designing, building, and testing loudspeaker systems and related subsystems (e.g. enclosures, rigging, transducers, DSP, amplifier) for commercial or professional products and markets.
  • Experience creating cost effective solutions that meet aggressive product feature, cost, quality, performance, and time to market requirements.
  • Senior-level knowledge of electroacoustics. Skilled at computer-based design and simulation (e.g. 3D CAD, FEA).
  • Proficiency with electroacoustics test and measurement tools (e.g. Listen SoundCheck, Klippel etc.).
  • Experience working with offshore ODM and CM partners.
  • Experience supporting complete product solutions – cradle to grave.
