LSA is seeking a Noise Specialist with 3 to 5 years of professional experience and a B.S./B.A. in an engineering, science, environmental, or urban planning field for its Irvine and Point Richmond offices. The candidate should be able to demonstrate excellent writing, presentation, interpersonal, and time management skills in addition to an active interest in planning issues and environmental review. The Noise Specialist will perform acoustical/noise modeling and field studies, conduct research, and prepare environmental assessments/documents and technical studies.

 

Knowledge of the following is required:

 

  • Fundamentals of noise, characteristics of sound, and noise regulatory guidelines
  • Working knowledge of noise models, including Traffic Noise Model (TNM) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) noise prediction model
  • Working knowledge of Microstation, AutoCAD, and ArcMap GIS
  • California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Guidelines, and assessment requirements
