Description/ Responsibilities

Gannet Fleming is looking for an Acoustical Consultant to contribute to a wide range of projects involving on a variety of environmental licensing, permitting and compliance to join our Noise, Vibration and Air Quality Acoustics Group in the Mid-Atlantic region. 

The successful candidate will assist with highway and rail transportation noise, environmental noise, industrial noise projects. The successful candidate will participate in sound level measurement programs, data collection, data analysis and report preparation. In addition, he/she will be involved in conducting research in a wide range of environmental acoustic areas including sound and noise source measurements, general and specialized modeling, soundscape, and transportation noise visualizations. Responsibilities involve applied acoustical research as well as interacting with clients, noise analysis modeling, and technical reporting. 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Acoustics, Engineering, Engineering Science, Physics or a related field; Master’s Degree preferred
  • 2-5 years of experience working in a consulting environment
  • Demonstrated proficiency using sound level measurement equipment
  • Experience with the FHWA TNM2.5 model
  • Proficient and hands on experience using Microstation, AutoCAD or GIS
  • Computer programming skills are preferred
  • Ability to collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary project team
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience with industry standard transportation noise models and GIS analysis is preferred
  • Experience managing takes with an interest in leading projects, expanding current lines of work, and potentially exploring new areas of opportunities, will also be considered
  • Adept at interacting with clients, participating in business development activities, and writing proposals
